Rest in Peace.

Buck O'Neil (AP Photo) was the rare athlete who was not only a role model for other baseball players, but an example of the best of humanity. He won batting titles as a player. Off the field he touched many lives.

Director and biographer Ken Burns: "It's not so much that he put that suffering behind him as that he has brought gold and light out of bitterness and despair, loneliness and suffering. He knows he can go farther with generosity and kindness than with anger and hate."
